Planks made of wood will always shrink or expand. This is mainly due to fluctuations in the moisture content of
the environment. Because the wood will mainly move in the width, it is important to allow the parquet to acclimatise to the environment where it will be mounted. Moreover it is also advisable to carry out the work at a stable temperature of 15 to 25 ° C, with a relative humidity (RH) of 50 to 60%. Different types of parquet naturally have a different movement pattern. Very popular in the past years is multi layer parquet, specially developed so it is far less sensitive to fluctuations in temperature and air humidity.
Also the type of tree is very important in the decision which adhesive should be used. Some will move more
due to the influence of humidity than others or do contain more resin making them harder to adhere to. Some
require the choice for a water- free, hard adhesive on PU base, for other you better use an elastic adhesive based on MS polymer.

Primering 底涂
The subfloor needs to be dry. The residual moisture of a standard screed cannot exceed 2%. For anhydrite
screed this is even 0,7%. Applying a moisture screen to prevent residual moisture causing damage, you could
use one of the Georburg primers. Primers are also a well known cure for subfloors who are highly porous. At
one hand they prevent a too high consumption of adhesive, at the other hand to improve the adhesion on
non-porous subfloors. Sandy or powdery subfloors can be made stronger with a deeply penetrating primer.

For optimal bonding of the wood to the subfloor, on a length of 2m, a maximum tolerance of 2mm, (or 4mm
with application of an extra wooden subfloor) is advised. When tolerances exceed that value, the application of
an adequate self-leveling product is advised.

Looking back, Georburg was one of the first to develop a parquet adhesive based on hybrid polymer. It had
invested numerous efforts in Research & Development, searching for a solution for the professional installer of
wooden flooring who were in need of an adhesive that combines an optimal workability with a very universal
application on common surfaces and wood flooring types.
Today hybrid polymer adhesives are a well known segment in this market. Being water-, solvent- and isocyanate free, there is absolutely no hazard for the user and when spilled, the adhesive can be easily removed without damaging the surface. It can be used for a wide variety of wooden floors like multilayer-, massive hard & softwood, veneer and mosaic parquet and this on a wide variety of subfloors (including existing tile flooring, screed, concrete, anhydrite, wood,...) in most cases without any pre-treatment needed! The high elasticity of the adhesives allows the wood to ‘work’ more, without losing strength. This way the adhesive take care of an optimal distribution of the forces in the wood by dividing it over the entire subfloor.
